Artist Christopher Reid won 2nd place in the Howard Street Exchange Plein Air Paint Out in Boone, NC.
Reid won 2nd in the annual plein air paint out with his “Swollen Creek” (acrylic on canvas 20×16), which was painted from right next to his tent where he was camping. The painting was completed in between rain showers and completely en plein air. Reid is know for the presence of water in his paintings. “I am from the beach and when I paint in the mountains I want to really capture the differences in the environment, even if I do keep getting drawn to paint water scenes,” he said.
The annual plein air paint out competition is hosted by The Howard Street Exchange, a community art/food/music/business festival for downtown Boone.
