GreenPrints Magazine

Chris’s illustrations have been featured in GreenPrints Magazine for several years now. It’s a wonderful little publication chock-full of inspirational garden stories. This is a painting Chris did for the cover of their Autumn 2020 issue. If you’re interested in ordering a digital copy, you can find them here.

“A Thread Runs Through It” Fynarts Festival

Fantastic opening for, “A Thread Runs Through It” at this year’s FynArts Festival in Hermanus! Painters and fibre artists were paired to create pieces that interrelated and complemented each other through commonalities such as color schemes, themes and form. Artist Christopher Reid and fibre artist Sheila Walwyn worked together using the theme- from the mountains to the sea. Their polyptych and photos from the exhibit are pictured below.

Chardonnay Deli Exhibition- May 1- 31

Chris’s month-long exhibition at Chardonnay Deli in Constantia got lots of compliments! We love the relaxed vibe there, and were happy to decorate one of their dining rooms with some of Chris’s paintings. “A Bunch Of Variety” was the unanimous favorite by the staff. The work was displayed from May 1st- 31st.

Vergenoegd Wine Estate Plein Air Outing With Urban Sketchers

Chris met with the Stellenbosch Urban Sketchers today for some plein air painting. One of the highlights of the morning was the duck parade, which consists of vineyard staff parading 1400 ducks through the estate. The ducks are an integral part of keeping the vineyard in good condition by aiding in pest control by consuming snails and bugs on their daily patrols.

Noordhoek Plein Air Festival And Auction Huge Success!

There were somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 bidders and artists who participated in the Noordhoek Plein Air Festival, Saturday, April 7th! The auction was a huge success with part of the proceeds going to crime prevention initiatives for the Noordhoek area. Special thanks to Roger Melvill and Andrew John Hart for organizing the first EVER known plein air festival in South Africa!

Chris completed 3 plein air paintings in one day: Noordhoek Beach, Chapman’s Peak From Noordhoek Common and Noordhoek Farm Village, in order below. Congratulations to the lucky bidder #17 for acquiring my painting, Noordhoek Beach!
