Kalfiefees is the festival held in Hermanus each year to celebrate the whale calving season. Artists from all over South Africa competed to be juried into the Kalfiefees 2016 art exhibition, which is held in Hermanus at the Municipal Auditorium.

Judges give the artists a rating score based on a selection of paintings. This year 3 artists with the highest scores among entries will be given a second panel to hang their artwork. Among those top 3 is artist Christopher Reid. Reid is a newcomer to the competition and only recently moved to Hermanus. “I am honored to have been selected and thrilled that the judges ranked me so highly”, said Reid.

The exhibition opens on Friday, August 5th from 5:30-6:30pm with wine and an opening speech by Nicolette Guthrie-Theron. Many of the artists will be there to greet guests and discuss their art. The exhibition will remain open throughout Kalfifees and close on Tuesday August 9th.
