Glowing Azalea

16x20 acrylic on canvas

I usually see azaleas depicted as soft and frilly blobs of color. I wanted to show how beautiful an azalea can be in early morning light by pushing the background back. This painting was inspired by a week of plein air painting during the NC Azalea Festival.
