Mountain Slopes

20x40cm acrylic on panel

While camping in the mountains for a plein air event, we climbed to the top of a ridge and saw views like this. I like the way the mountains formed a zig-zag composition with each weaving into the next. I was particularly drawn to the trees clinging to the side of the slope. They provided stability and balance to the diagonal movement throughout the scene. Atmospheric perspective was key to capturing the feeling of depth and the immensity of the mountains.
