Red Shed

9x12″ pastel on board

I painted this red shed in a historic garden during the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society’s plein air event. The light was casting an interesting shadow, but not for long. I worked quickly to capture it and played down the background elements. You can’t see it from this angle, but the owner had cut a small hole in the bottom of the door to accomodate a wild rabbit that once lived in the shed.
